Education of Yah: What Does Precept Upon Precept Mean? Isaiah 28:5-16

Updated: May 16, 2022

This sermon is going to explain what Precept Upon Precept Means. Let us look at Isaiah 28:5-16

Isaiah 28:5-16

5 In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

14 Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

Let us get an understanding of what Abba Yah is telling us

The word Jerusalem means:

Jerusalem H3389 = "teaching of peace"

Where is Jerusalem? Is this just a place or a people?

Zechariah 2:1-5

I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.

2 Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.

3 And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,

4 And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:

5 For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

Jerusalem is the world of believers who Listen to Abba Yah and Yahusha His Son who was sent to the world to Rectify sinners back to Yah's Truth and to teach what Real Peace means.

Who is the corner stone?

Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit

We are the temple build upon the corner stone growing together in Spirit and Knowledge. This world does not want us to understand Yah's True Words because when we do Real Peace will take place and the world loves order out of chaos. This is why Abba Yah Rebukes those who sin against Him with lies, laws and deception.

Now what is a precept?

Precept: H6673-צַוtsav, tsav; or צָו tsâv; from H6680; an injunction:—commandment, precept.

Biblical Outline of Usage of H6673

  1. command, ordinance, oracle (meaning dubious)

    1. used in mocking mimicry of Isaiah's words and thus not a true divine command

What is an Injunction?

: a writ granted by a court of equity whereby one is required to do or to refrain from doing a specified act

the act or an instance of enjoining : ORDER, ADMONITION

Admonition Means:

1: gentle or friendly reproof remembered the admonition to keep it simple

2: counsel or warning against fault or oversight the principal's admonition against bullying

Reproof Means:

: criticism for a fault : REBUKE

Hosea 5:11

Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.

Ephraim means: H669-אֶפְרַיִםʼEphrayim, ef-rah'-yim; dual of masculine form of H672; double fruit; Ephrajim, a son of Joseph; also the tribe descended from him, and its territory:—Ephraim, Ephraimites.

Fruit means H6529:פְּרִיpᵉrîy, per-ee'; from H6509; fruit (literally or figuratively):—bough, (first-)fruit(-ful), reward.

Biblical Outline of Usage of H6529

  1. fruit

  2. fruit, produce (of the ground)

  3. fruit, offspring, children, progeny (of the womb)

  4. fruit (of actions) (fig.)

Ephraim is oppressed and broken because of following the ways of this world and not Abba Yah's Words. Therefore Abba Yah is Rebuking those who do not Follow His Commandments but those of the worlds. When we try to follow the world and Abba Yah we are Double Minded or Double Fruit because we are looking for rewards of this earth while claiming to be of Abba Yah's Kingdom.

The fruit being described in Hosea 5 and in Isaiah though the word "fruit" is not used is reference to the fruit of ones actions. Isaiah is calling out the actions of the false priests and prophets who have corrupted Abba Yah's Words. This is made apparent in verse 15.

Isaiah 28:15

15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

The word precept is from H6680 which means

From H6680- צָוָהtsâvâh, tsaw-vaw'; a primitive root; (intensively) to constitute, enjoin:—appoint, (for-) bid, (give a) charge, (give a, give in, send with) command(-er, -ment), send a messenger, put, (set) in order.

Our prophets were sent to warn the world of the deception and oppression of laws created by man and not those Ordained and Appointed by Abba Yah. Messengers whether angels or prophets, have been with us since the beginning when mankind chose the way of the Fallen Angles and not Abba Yah's Words. Noah warned for 120 years to turn back to Yah's Ways, my brothers and sisters, we do not have 120 years to correct, we have Now and the time of the heathens will end soon, but it's up to us to Teach and Correct as we are Called to be Abba Yah's Lights in this dark world of sin and destruction teaching Real Peace.

The word to constitute means:

: MAKE UP, FORM, COMPOSE 12 months constitute a year.… high school dropouts who constitute a major problem in large city slums.— J. B. Conant

2: SET UP, ESTABLISH: such as

a: ENACT regulations as are constituted by the government

b: FOUND constitute a provisional government

c(1): to give due or lawful form to an agreement constituted by writing (2): to legally process

3: to appoint to an office, function, or dignity Legal authority constitutes all magistrates.

Enjoining Means:

1: to direct or impose by authoritative order or with urgent admonition enjoined us to be careful

2a: FORBID, PROHIBIT was enjoined by conscience from telling a lie

b: to prohibit by a judicial order: put an injunction on a book had been enjoined prior to publication

We are prohibited from following the way this world is for the prince of this world is at work in all areas of life and because we believe in our Chief Cornerstone, we are to be the Messengers of this world and direct with Abba Yah's Authority. We have The Lord God Within Us, and it is His power the world is afraid of and that is apparent in the laws of man.

Ephesians 2:1-3 ESV

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body[a] and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind

Laws are added to laws of this world everyday in the name of "Peace and Prosperity" by those who hold offices not ordained by The Lord God Almighty. The way the world is now is not of Abba Yahuah, but of the Fallen Angels known as Watchers and the Nephilim spirits that run the world through people and organizations, governments and decrees. Their time is almost up and we need to understand that.

How Many Laws are In the United States?

Congress has enacted approximately 200–600 statutes during each of its 115 biennial terms so that more than 30,000 statutes have been enacted since 1789.

How Many Laws are in the World?

Database Coverage: 3,155,465 laws and counting.

There are three different types of laws God gave to man in the Bible: (1) Moral Laws (2) Ceremonial Laws (3) Civil Laws

God's moral laws for man apply 24/7, every day of the year. These moral laws are extended in Leviticus 19.

Abortion is a violation of Exodus 20:12 not to kill the innocent. Abortion was made legal in 1973, just recently by history standards.

How Many Laws are in The Bible?

Those 613 laws (a number not found in Scripture but only in Talmudic tradition) were also the constitution of Israel. Those statutes were necessary for running a righteous, theocratic government under Yahuah. They include laws on how a ruler should conduct himself as well as statutes governing political interactions with other nations.

People want to believe that Yahusha fulfilled All the Laws of the Old Testament, some He did such as the Sacrificial Laws as He was our Final Sacrifice. That was His purpose on this earth, to Bring us Back to Truth by dying as a man so that the Holy Spirit can fill those who believe in Him as He was The Word of Yah or Logos made flesh.

Granted, we observe the vast majority of Yah's commands in the way He intended. But there are some commands that clearly could only apply to the time of ancient Israel. Most of these civil and ceremonial laws are nonapplicable to today.

For instance, a statute in Deuteronomy 22:8 says to make a low wall about 3 feet tall around your roof. That law makes sense for safety on flat roofs in Israel because families used their roofs as living spaces. But it makes no practical sense for most homes today in America.

Exodus 22:18 targets witchcraft with a mandate not to allow a witch to live. What would happen if we took this law into our own hands vigilante style?

Then there are all the laws pertaining to the high priest and the conducting of temple worship. Being we are not under the Levitical priesthood, these laws are unobservable today. Hebrews 5:6 tells us, “As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.”

Melchisedec is Yahusha our High Priest, and we are to Follow The 10 Commandments and the Moral Laws which Are Not Done Away with.

Understanding of precept upon precept we learn that laws upon laws do not save mankind but Only Yah's Commandments, His Ordinances and His Words Do. Mankind believes in Order out of Chaos and promotes false Peace and continues to put out more laws every day. Until Yah's Return we are to keep His Laws that remain, The Moral Laws and teach those who have eyes and ears to hear why the ways of the world are wrong. Together as the Body of Yahusha we can make a difference. We may not be able to change everything, we are not called to do that as Abba Yah's Return Will Reset this world and bring Judgement unto those who are corrupt in their ways and who have led the world astray from Him.

Proverbs 29:18

Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.

Acts 3:21

21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.
