The verbal root of chay is chayah. Chayah is generally translated as living or quickened. As we have done with other terms, let's see how the Holy Spirit uses this term. The first occurrence, as it relates to humans, is in Genesis
Life-H2416- chay, khah'-ee; from H2421; alive; hence, raw (flesh); fresh (plant, water, year), strong; also (as noun, especially in the feminine singular and masculine plural) life (or living thing), whether literally or figuratively:— age, alive, appetite, (wild) beast, company, congregation, life(-time), live(-ly), living (creature, thing), maintenance, merry, multitude, (be) old, quick, raw, running, springing, troop.

Now read Genesis 2:7 like this: The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of The Word of God; and man became a living soul.
(Without The Word of God, we are dead. We are just a vessel upon this earth lost and miserable. Without The Word of Yah, we are not a living soul and we are under the Law of Sin and Death.)
O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life H2416.

Man's life came from the breath of God. What is the breath of God? It is the Word of God!! Psalm 33:6, John 6:63. Right from the beginning we see that our life comes from the Spirit of God, the Breath of God, the Words of God. Let's get some more detail.
Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live H2421.
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened H2421 me.
My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: for length of days and long life H2416, and peace, shall they add to thee.
Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.

26 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.
28 My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.
29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.
31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O Lord, put me not to shame.
32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

Ensure you know where you Soul is going.
When we are Living according To the Word of God : God's Spirit Lives Inside of us! He shines onto this world Through our Actions, Our Words, Our Prayers, and Our Attitudes. The way we Live Must Reflect the Nature of God. This is why we are told to Be a Light unto All the nations, so that by our Lives The Lord God is Shining Through us teaching others how to live and act. By living according to The Word of God we spread Life/The Word of Yah to others. We are told to:
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
