Matthew 7:3-5 King James Version (KJV)

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

2 Corinthians 6:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Isaiah 52 King James Version (KJV)

52 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

3 For thus saith the Lord, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money

Job 36:8-12 KJV

8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;

9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

Edward Mordrake was born in 1887. Coming from a noble family, he was considered in his time as a man very cultivated in the arts of music and studious. It is also at first sight a person with a certain charm and dressed in a refined and graceful way.

Yet since his birth, Edward has hidden a terrible secret that he considers to be a curse in his daily life. Indeed, behind her head is a second, almost feminine face with the particularity of being deformed. Edward Mordrake perceives him as his evil twin.

Yet while this case could be classified as an urban legend, it does not stop there. Indeed, from 1896 onwards, doctors Georges M. Gould and Walter L. Pyle wrote a book entitled Anomalies and Curiosities of Medicine in which they adopted Hildreth’s ideas, but affirmed that this case of medicine was possible, which renewed the hesitation about the case.

Now, when we say that this case is unique in the history of medicine, it does not necessarily seem to be true. Indeed, a Chinese farmer named Chang Tzu Ping suffered from a malformation strangely similar to the case of Edward Mordrake.

His second face consisted of a small mouth with a tongue, several teeth, a skull covered with a scalp, eyes and ears. The children in her village were frightened when they crossed Chang’s road.

Equally incredible was the case of circus performer Pasqual Pinon (1889–1929), a.k.a. Two-Headed Mexican, a man whose bulbous forehead protuberance (likely courtesy of neurofibromatoma or a benign cyst of some sort) was thoughtfully altered by side-show hustlers to make it appear more face-like, complete with eyes, mouth, nose and hair. But a true case of cranio-facial duplication it was not.

Similarly, the American-born Bill Dirks (1913-75) also had his disfigurement “enhanced.” Born with partial facial diprosopus, circus promoters painted on a third eye to drum up business. At the very least, he caught the eye of one lucky lady, Milly The Alligator-Skinned Woman, and eventually made an honest woman out of her.

In recent times, the most famous and legitimate case of a human with diprosopus is that of Lali Singh, an infant girl born near Delhi, India, in March of 2008. Not only was Lali extremely rare in that she survived her birth to breathe on her own, but she also had complete cranio-facial duplication – two sets of eyes, two noses and two mouths. Instead of being reviled and shunned, Lali was elevated to an even higher status, and believed to be the reincarnation of several Hindu deities. She died at two-months old following hospitalization due to dehydration related to feeding issues stemming from her cleft palate, and ultimately cardiac failure.
